A number of people have been injured in a firearms incident in Tokoroa

A number of people have been injured in a firearms incident in Tokoroa

Police say they had several reports of loud bangs at an address in Charles Street around 1 o'clock this morning.

They say a man fired a weapon at a group of partygoers on the road.

Two men are in Waikato Hospital with shrapnel wounds and others have minor injuries.

Detective Sergeant Mihi Owen says a group of people were turned away from the party shortly before the incident.

She says they made threats and threw bottles towards the partygoers, before taking off in two separate vehicles.
