Households are being urged to make a fire and emergency plan

It comes after two people died as a result of a house fire in South Auckland's Hillpark yesterday.

Another person is in Middlemore Hospital, with serious injuries.

Fire and Emergency Manukau's Brendon Irwin says families, or people living together, need to know where to go in the event of a blaze.

He says they suggest the letterbox as a meeting point, so their crews can account for people a lot more quickly.
