Rachel McAdams is reportedly expecting her first child

The 39-year-old actress is said to be pregnant with her first child, according to E! News, who have reported that several sources have confirmed the news to the publication

As of the time of writing, Rachel has not spoken about the speculation, but has been keeping a low profile in recent months and skipped out on the premiere of her new movie ‘Game Night’ on Wednesday (21.02.18).

Rachel is known for keeping a tight lid on her private life and so it is not yet known who the father of her rumoured baby is, but she was spotted holding hands with screenwriter Jamie Linden in the summer of 2016, fanning speculation that the two were a couple.

The speculation comes after the ‘Mean Girls’ star revealed in 2009 that she would love to start a family of her own some day.

She said at the time: "Having a few [kids] would be great. My mom is a great inspiration to me … She's a nurse and very nurturing and gentle. She lets me be who I am. Hopefully I can take on those qualities and be as great as her.”

The ‘True Detective’ star - who has dated the likes of Ryan Gosling, Josh Lucas and Michael Sheen in the past - also previously claimed she finds relationships “demanding”, as she said romance was too “complicated” for her.

Asked why she thinks it is hard to stay in love, she said: "I think everyone is more demanding. Women are independent and anxious about our role in society. Relationships are more complicated because we're conscious of what we want from them.”

Despite her somewhat cynical views on love, Rachel has starred in a number of romance movies, and says she enjoys “exploring love” on-screen.

She added: "I enjoy exploring love and how people fall in love. If you tell a great love story, you'll attract an audience. We all know what it's like to fall in love. The difficulty is how relationships evolve over time."
