Drama in the opening game of the second round in the ANZ netball Premiership

The Northern Mystics have emerged with a 60-54 win over rivals the Stars in Waitakere, pulling away in the closing minutes after the Stars had a player sent off.

Stars midcourter Fa'amu Ioane was dismissed for persistent infringing with just under eight minutes left and the Mystics leading 50-49.

The victory is the first for the Mystics this season from three games

Joe Moody's next stint on the sideline will likely be for a reason other than injury.

The All Blacks prop made his return from a long injury layoff in the Crusaders Super Rugby win over the Waratahs in Christchurch.

However he now faces a potentially lengthy suspension, after footage emerged of him whacking Waratahs second five Kurtley Beale in the throat with his arm.

He's been cited by the SANZAAR judiciary, and will appear before the foul play review committee shortly via video link

Team Wellington is on the cusp of the football's Club World Cup.

They've thumped Fiji's Lautoka FC 6-nil in the first leg of the Oceania Champions League final in Wellington.

Jack-Henry Sinclair scored a double for the hosts.

Coach Jose Figueira says he's proud

The second leg is next weekend in Fiji.

A Webb Simpson masterclass has put golf's Players Championship virtually out of reach, but kiwi Danny Lee is forging his own path behind him.

Simpson will take an incredible seven shot lead into the final round of what's dubbed the unofficial fifth major at TPC Sawgrass.

Lee is alone in second at 12-under, two strokes clear of world number one Dustin Johnson
