Police have named the teenager who died in a police pursuit in Wellington this morning

He was 15-year-old Bailey Patmore, from Cannons Creek in Porirua.

Bailey was in the boot of the car when it crashed.

The vehicle failed to stop for police on State Highway One, near the Terrace Tunnel, at about 2.45 this morning.

A single patrol car pursued the vehicle north along the motorway, before it crashed south of the Tawa interchange.

The teenager, who died at the scene, was one of six occupants in the vehicle, which was reported stolen yesterday.

Five other people in the car were taken to hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
