    Fonterra's Farmgate milk price has hit its highest level in years

    The opening milk price for the 2018-19 season is seven-dollars per kilogram of milk solids.

    That's just shy of its record high of eight-dollars 40 in the 2013-14 season.

    Chairman John Wilson says the strong opening milk price will be very welcome news for the co-operative's farmers.

    He says global demand is expected to remain strong, especially from China.
