    Today wasn't Tom Walsh's day in the shot put circle


    The Commonwealth Games champion has had to settle for fifth at the Lausanne Diamond League with a best throw of 21.30 metres.

    He was beaten by fellow Kiwi Jacko Gill who took third, heaving 21.70 metres, while Americans Joe Kovacs and Ryan Crouser took first and second respectively.

    Walsh says he gave it a good crack, but he's run down after a busy month of competing.
