A person has died after being hit by a truck in central Dunedin just before 8 this morning

Police say the truck appears to have also collided with several vehicles on the Crawford Street one-way system.

Road closures are expected to remain in place for several hours to allow for a scene examination to take place.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
