Winston Peters has called the Maori party "pretenders" in his State of the Nation address

Winston Peters has called the Maori party "pretenders" in his State of the Nation address

The New Zealand First Leader's outlined a pitch to voters -- telling his supporters "things are failing everywhere all at once" and to "take their country back."

In a Q and A session after his speech, Peters took a swipe at Te Pati Maori.

In response to a question, he claims the Maori Party are pretenders -- saying they've been around for a long time and are going nowhere.
