A former Auckland Mayor has donated 100-thousands dollars to the Labour Party

Richard Hubbard, better known as Dick Hubbard, gave to the 'Chip in for Chippy' campaign, which raised more than 300-thousand dollars.

Hubbard promised to match every donation Labour received to the campaign fund, dollar for dollar.

As did long-time Labour supporter, gym entrepreneur Philip Mills, who gave 50-thousand.

The money will go into Labour's election campaign war chest -- with campaigning kicking off in the next few months.
