An Auckland secondary school's decision to schedule exams on a weekend is raising concern among students and a teachers' union

Mount Albert Grammar will hold its scholarship English and calculus mock exams on Saturday, September 9.

One student says the decision's causing widespread frustration for students and families with work, sport and family commitments.

Post Primary Teachers' Association's Chris Abercrombie says staff asked to supervise will need a corresponding length of time off.

But acting headmaster Jo Williams says this will free up two teaching days - to make up time lost to weather events and industrial action.
