A weight off the shoulders of Christchurch's mayor - who's been cleared by police of any corruption during last year's local election campaign

A weight off the shoulders of Christchurch's mayor - who's been cleared by police of any corruption during last year's local election campaign

A complaint had been lodged by Aaron Campbell - relating to Phil Mauger giving away thousands of Covid-19 rapid antigen tests, donating shingle to a community group - and comments over the city's stinky wastewater plant.

Mauger says police were very clear there was no evidence he acted corruptly or with intent of purpose of influencing voter behaviour.

Campbell says he appreciates the time police took to investigate the complaint, but is surprised Mauger wasn't interviewed during the investigation.
