    A result that bodes well for mountain-biker Anton Cooper ahead of next year's Paris Olympics


    The Kiwi rider has finished runner-up in the official cross-country test event on the outskirts of the French capital.

    Cooper was pipped in a sprint finish by French star Victor Koretzky with 10-time world champion Nino Schurter third.

    Short-track world champ and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Sam Gaze made his return from illness in the race and finished 27th.

    New Zealand's under-23 world champion Sammie Maxwell was 17th in the women's race.
