Labour's Northland candidate is calling out racism she's experienced this election campaign

Labour's Northland candidate is calling out racism she's experienced this election campaign

Leader Chris Hipkins has been in the region today, delivering a speech about Labour's relationship and ongoing commitment to Maori.

Willow-Jean Prime, who is Maori, says in recent candidate debates she's seen the worst vitriol across her seven campaigns -- five in central Government, and two in local.

She says every time she used a Te Reo Maori word, she was shouted at ... and every time she said Aotearoa, the crowd would respond 'It's New Zealand!'.
