Revelations controversial West Coast regional councillor Allan Birchfield has been before the courts, charged with trespassing on a property linked to his family

Our newsroom can reveal Birchfield initially faced two charges including using a vehicle as a weapon, after an incident with his brother in May.

That charge was later dismissed, after police accepted there was insufficient evidence.

Birchfield - who's been serving his seventh term on the council - has been in the headlines for the past few months, while the council has been dealing with several code of conduct matters involving him. .
