Dead time will be punished in the New Zealand men's first one day cricket international against Bangladesh in Dunedin on Sunday

In a radical step to regulate the pace of play, governing body the ICC is experimenting with a stop clock between overs on a trial basis for the next five months.

If the bowling side fails to start a new over within a minute THREE times in an innings, they'll be hit with a five-run penalty.

Black Caps batter Henry Nicholls is supportive of any move to speed up play and says the onus will be on the fielding side and skipper Tom Latham to play ball.

The White Ferns begin their second ODI against Pakistan from 2pm today in Christchurch.
