Middle distance runner James Preston is pouring cold water on any expectations he'll qualify for the Olympics at the Potts Classic in Hastings tonight

Middle distance runner James Preston is pouring cold water on any expectations he'll qualify for the Olympics at the Potts Classic in Hastings tonight

The 800 metres specialist must run under one minute, 44.7 seconds to qualify for the Paris Games, but currently has a best time of one minute, 45.3 seconds.

Preston says it's probably a little early in the season to expect a PB.

    The men's A final is at 7.35pm.
