The now-scrapped Clean Car Discount's cost Kiwi taxpayers more than 330-million-dollars

The now-scrapped Clean Car Discount's cost Kiwi taxpayers more than 330-million-dollars

NZTA figures show rebates amounted to 615 million, paid out on 192-thousand electric and low-emission cars.

Buyers of high-emitting vehicles, such as diesel utes, paid tax of just under 300-million-dollars - translating to 128-thousand vehicles.

Administration and project costs tacked another 20-million on the price-tag.

EV sales have plummeted since the rebate was axed.

Petrol and diesel vehicles accounted for 96 per cent of new registrations last month.
