Christchurch police have arrested two people for tampering with power lines, allegedly to steal copper to scrap for cash

Christchurch police have arrested two people for tampering with power lines, allegedly to steal copper to scrap for cash

There have been multiple thefts across the city in recent months, including from one street in Dallington where residents say their power has been cut off ten times in three months.

A police spokesperson says two people were caught in the act, after a resident noticed the distinct sound of a grinder power tool.

It's believed more people are also involved.

Police are appealing for help identifying a vehicle of interest - a white station wagon caught on CCTV.
