    MetService has issued wind and rain warnings for a large part of New Zealand


    This in an unseasonably cold outbreak, and snow may settle to around 1000 metres over Fiordland and the ranges of Otago during tomorrow.

    There'll also be large southwest swells on the west and south coasts of the South Island from later tomorrow.

    An orange heavy rain warning covers the Tararua Range, Mount Taranaki, Fiordland and the Otago headwaters.

    From late tonight and through tomorrow there'll be up to 100 millimetres of rain at peak falls of up to 30 millimetres an hour.

    An orange strong wind warning covers the Canterbury High Country from late tonight until tomorrow morning, with severe gale-force nor'westerlies up to 120 kilometres an hour.
