An official fund has been set up to regenerate natives at the site of the Port Hills fire

An official fund has been set up to regenerate natives at the site of the Port Hills fire

It's been exactly one month since 650 hectares of the hills went up in smoke, forcing the evacuation of 80 properties.

The final hotspot was extinguished, and land handed back to owners just last week.

The Christchurch Foundation Fund hopes to raise 50-thousand dollars to plant and manage natives, which they say are more fire resistant and contribute to ecosystem resilience.
