Canterbury shot putter Tom Walsh is aware of the lengths he'll have to go to to beat American rival Ryan Crouser at this year's Paris Olympics

Canterbury shot putter Tom Walsh is aware of the lengths he'll have to go to to beat American rival Ryan Crouser at this year's Paris Olympics

Crouser - who beat the two-time Olympic bronze medallist at the world indoor championships earlier this month - holds the men's world record at 23.56 metres.

Walsh says the bar has been rising since his initial senior success at international level.

Walsh competes in the New Zealand national track and field championships in Wellington tomorrow afternoon.
