A man and a woman are appearing in the Hutt Valley District Court today, on a raft of charges relating to horrific family harm

Two children, aged four and five, were discovered with serious injuries in Lower Hutt earlier this month.

Two 25-year-olds have been charged with failing to protect a child, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, wilful ill-treatment of a dog, and selling cannabis.

Police say the young siblings are recovering well, and are being safely cared for and supported.
