Olive oil lovers are finding themselves in a slippery situation, as shortages make prices sky-rocket

Olive oil lovers are finding themselves in a slippery situation, as shortages make prices sky-rocket

Extreme weather in the Mediterranean is being blamed for a poor olive yield, causing shortages of the oil around the world.

New Zealand grocery experts say prices have recently jumped by 50 - 60 percent.

Foodstuffs Head of Grocery Jocelyn McCallum says despite the shortage, they're working hard to ensure it's still widely avaliable.

She's reassuring customers supply won't be affected.
