Forecasters say West Coasters should prepare for severe rain and gales

Forecasters say West Coasters should prepare for severe rain and gales

They'll be brought by north to northwest winds moving over Fiordland tomorrow - slowing towards Westland on Wednesday and Thursday.

MetService Meteorologist Thapi Makgabutlane says there could be flooding in Westland.

She says they may issue a Red Warning in coming days.

She's warning Westland could see 600-800 millimetres of rain between tomorrow and Thursday.
