Some positive news for Dunedin's retail scene

Some positive news for Dunedin's retail scene

The city's abuzz with speculation Australian cosmetics retailer, Mecca will soon open its doors.

It's after five job-ads were posted on Seek and its own website for a new store in Dunedin.

A Mecca spokesperson says they're still working through the details of the store, but confirmed to Newstalk ZB it will open in the second half of the year.

The store will be the beauty brand's second in the South Island -- after its new mega-site opened in Christchurch last year.

The Dunedin store coincides with the city council's work on upgrades to the George Street Retailer Quarter -- expected to open next month.
