The Coastguard, Westpac Rescue Helicopter and a quick thinking person on a jet ski have helped out with a water rescue on Auckland's Manukau bar

A vessel capsized there at around 2 this afternoon with two people on board.

The person on the jetski grabbed one person and brought them safely ashore.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter managed to winch the other person to safety.

Coastguard says the boaties did the right thing by logging a trip report, wearing lifejackets and having an emergency beacon on board although they were unable to activate it.
