    Interest in buying property has spiked, partly thanks to low interest rates and prices

    Latest figures from the Real Estate Institute show the national median house price dropped 0-point-6 percent in the year to August.

    Auckland is pushing down the national median price -- recording a 4-percent drop.

    Oneroof Editor Owen Vaughan says he expects more positive figures going forward this year as the market comes back to life.
