Police are seeking help from the public after a woman was raped and assaulted in Wanaka

Police are seeking help from the public after a woman was raped and assaulted in Wanaka

The 22-year-old woman was attacked a short distance from the Lake Hawea Hotel shortly before 10pm on December 28.

Police say an arrest has been made - but they'd like to hear from anyone in the Capell Avenue area at the time - as the offender may have spoken to them.

The 23-year-old man is being charged with rape, unlawful sexual connection and male assaults female - and will appear in the Queenstown District Court next week.
