People in Wanaka are being warned about a suspicious couple, masquerading as building inspectors

People in Wanaka are being warned about a suspicious couple, masquerading as building inspectors

Police are looking for a man and woman who've approached people's homes posing as council inspectors, saying they needed to undertake an inspection for compliance.

Queenstown Lakes District Council says the pair had no appointment, couldn't produce council ID and weren't wearing uniform - which its staff always do.

It says residents should contact police immediately if they receive an unscheduled visit, without proper identification.
