Public service awards for two men killed in a helicopter crash

Public service awards for two men killed in a helicopter crash

DOC Senior Ranger Paul Hondelink and Pilot Nick Wallis were killed in the crash in Wanaka last October - along with DOC ranger Scott Theobald.

The State Services Commissioner has presented the Hondelink and Wallis families with a Commendation for Frontline Excellence.

It recognises the contribution both men made to New Zealand with their conservation and predator control work.

Last November, Theobald was also given the award.
