    The process of reversing recent speed limit reductions is beginning -- in Christchurch


    The Government's ordered councils to put streets back to 50 k -- reversing Labour Government's decision to drop them to 30.

    Some schools on busier streets will still have speed reductions during drop-off and pick-up times.

    But Caroline Perry from road safety charity Brake says she wanted to see the reduction made permanent, and not just before or after school.

    Auckland Transport says the reversal will cost up to 25 million dollars, in the Auckland region alone.

    The Government isn't paying for the changes.
