    Two people are dead and many more injured after crashes in the North Island overnight


    One person died and seven others have moderate to serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash in the Stratford District.

    Emergency services responded to the crash on State Highway 3, in Pembroke, about 11pm.

    Meanwhile, one person has died after a motorcycle crash in Pukekawa around 5.30 this morning.

    Police are investigating.
