Cynthia Nixon didn't recognise Kristin Davis before they worked together on 'Sex and The City'

The 58-year-old actress starred alongside Kristin, 60, on the hit HBO series - but Cynthia initially thought that she would be working with Kristin Scott Thomas instead

During an appearance on Kristin's 'Are You a Charlotte?' podcast, Cynthia shared: "Sarah [Jessica Parker] and I knew each other quite well. We'd worked together a bunch of times, and we were always auditioning for the same parts and stuff when we were kids. And Kim [Cattrall] I knew a little bit."

Kristin starred on 'Melrose Place', the hit soap, before joining the cast of 'Sex and The City', and Cynthia has admitted that she didn't even recognise her co-star at the time.

The actress - who played Miranda Hobbes on the show - told Kristin: "I didn't know who you were, but I looked at the way you spelled your first name with an 'I,' which is unusual - with two Is. And I basically - I decided you were Kristin Scott Thomas.

"I was like, it must be Kristin - that must be Kristin Scott Thomas."

In response, Kristin joked: "You must have been really disappointed!"

Meanwhile, Kristin previously admitted that she was unimpressed by the 'Sex and The City' pilot.

The actress never imagined that 'Sex and The City' would become so successful.

Kristin said on the 'Are You A Charlotte?' podcast: "I was never a fan of the pilot. It didn't seem smooth. It seemed kind of choppy and hectic.

"But I also feel my personal theory on pilots in general is that if they're too good - if the pilot is too formed - the show might not be good."
