Maria Shriver didn't realise that her son Patrick Schwarzenegger was naked in 'The White Lotus'

The 69-year-old author admits that she was focused on her son's face as she watched the risqué scenes he has as sex-crazed Saxon Ratliff in the new season of the hit TV show

Maria - who has Patrick with her former husband Arnold Schwarzenegger - told People: "My kids were like, 'Did you see that?' And I was like, 'No. What?'

"So that shows you - a mother's eyes are always on the kids' eyes."

Shriver is delighted that her son has landed a role on the acclaimed HBO series as it is the culmination of years of hard work.

She said: "I was so happy for him because he's worked so hard. He takes classes, he's really been grinding at it for more than a decade, and he wanted to work his way up - and he's done it his way.

"I think it's a great moment for him, and I'm super happy for him. It actually makes me cry. I'm so happy for him."

Meanwhile, Patrick admits that he felt frustrated that some assumed he only got a part in 'The White Lotus' because of his 'Terminator' star father.

The 31-year-old actor told The Sunday Times newspaper: "I know there are people who'll say I only got this role because of who my dad is.

"They're not seeing that I've had 10 years of acting classes, put on (high) school plays every week, worked on my characters for hours on end or the hundreds of rejected auditions I've been on."

Patrick continued: "Of course, it's frustrating and you can get boxed in and you think at that moment, I wish I didn't have my last name. But, that's a small moment.

"I would never trade my life with anyone. I'm very fortunate to have the life and family that I have, the parents I have and the lessons and values they've instilled in me."
