A man who died hunting at Stewart Island - was reportedly shot

Police were called about midday Saturday, when a personal locator beacon was activated.

A helicopter carried a search and rescue team to the island - who found the man, reportedly from a party of nine.

Investigations continue - with Police talking to those in the area at the time.
