Tracee Ellis Ross opened up the 2018 American Music Awards with an energetic dance medley

The 'Black-ish' actress - whose child co-stars raised 7 and 3 scorecards after the routine - stormed the stage lip syncing and busting a move to 'Bodak Yellow', 'This Is America', 'APES***', 'Respect', 'Uptown Funk' and 'Run The World' on Tuesday night (09.10.18)

She jokingly gasped halfway through the dance number: "Wait, I'm not done?!"

Breathless after the performance, she gave the biggest popstars in the world a nod for people able to do that every time they step on stage.

She said: "I don't know how you do that all the time. I am NOT a dancer. I think I'm just a lady who moves."

The 45-year-old star impressed in her second year hosting the prestigious award ceremony, and had the audience laughing as she asked Alex Rodriguez about his skincare routine every his partner Jennifer Lopez took to the stage.

Tracee - the daughter of Motown legend Diana Ross - also made a point of only wearing outfits by black designers throughout her many costume chances over the evening.

She tweeted ahead of the show: "I've featured black designers in all of my @AMA press looks, and will do the same for all my show looks tonight!"

The star also managed to get political without overstepping, as she appeared in a white t-shirt with the words "I'm a voter" on the front to encourage people across the US to register and have their say in the upcoming midterm elections in November.

Taylor Swift - who broke the record for the most overall AMA wins by a female artist with four wins taking her total over the years to 23 - also wasn't afraid to get political as she urged her fans to get out and vote, days after breaking her political silence for the first time on Instagram.

She said: "Thank you for this incredible symbol of encouragement. And I just wanted to make a mention of the fact that this award and every single award given out tonight were voted on by the people, and you know what else is voted on by the people - is the midterm elections on November 6. Get out and vote. I love you guys!"
