Calls for investigation as electricity prices reach an all-time high

Calls for investigation as electricity prices reach an all-time high

Four independent power companies have written to the Electricity Authority demanding urgent action.

They say current spot prices are five times higher than they ordinarily are.

Vocus Communications spokesperson Jonathan Eele says although factors such as lake levels and specific events have an effect - prices have never been like this.

He says they want them to investigate on market disclosures and how prices can get this way.
