58-year-old Shiu Prasad has today pleaded guilty in the High Court to stabbing former partner, 28-year-old Keshni Naicker, to death outside her workplace.
Her new partner, 31-year-old Asveen Sharan, was also seriously injured in the attack.
Witnesses said Prasad stated: 'It's okay, she's my wife' as he stabbed her multiple times.
Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Cottam says the tragedy was avoidable
He says people in immigrant communities may not know support is available.
The organisations include the Women's Refuge, Te Whare Ora, Stopping Violence and Shakti - which provides a 24 hour crisis line for migrant women.
