Black Friday is becoming bigger than Boxing Day for many retailers

The American shopping tradition is attached to their Thanksgiving holiday... but has caught on here in recent years

Chris Wilkinson, the managing director of First Retail Group, says the euphoria created by big sales is due to what he calls 'theatrical retail'.

He says the stores are buzzing and there are flags everywhere, creating a massive drive of spending within the stores.

Wilkinson says for many retailers, Black Friday sales eclipse Boxing Day.
