New figures from Stats NZ show the net worth of the country's richest 20-percent of households has risen five-percent in the past three years.
Over the same period, the net worth of the poorest 40-percent has remained unchanged.
The median net worth of the typical New Zealand household reached 340-thousand in June this year.
That's up from 289-thousand three years ago, due mainly due to rising property values.
The typical homeowner saw the value of their home increase by almost 10-thousand dollars.
