    Geraint Thomas is taking time to reflect on a remarkable 2018


    The Tour de France winning Welsh cyclist has won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

    Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton's finished in second with England football captain Harry Kane third.

    Thomas says it's pretty special to be able to inspire people.

    He says to see so many people riding their bikes and enjoying having a lifestyle gives him as much satisfaction as an award.

    Thomas is the first Welshman since Ryan Giggs in 2009 to win the award.

    The Commonwealth Games winning England netball team have won team of the year, while Italian golfer Francesco Molinari has been named World Sport Star of the year.
