The Auckland Crown Solicitor has asked the Solicitor General to consider an appeal over the home detention sentence for the teenager who killed him.
19-year-old Rouxle Le Roux was found guilty of dangerous driving causing death, and was sentenced to 11 months home detention and 250 hours community service.
The family doesn't think that's enough, and started a petition urging to Crown to appeal the sentence, which now has over 100-thousand signatures.
Mother Charlene Kraatskow burst into tears at the news it may be appealed, saying it's a step in the right direction.
