Former Wallabies attack coach Scott Johnson has been appointed director of rugby to oversee current coach Michael Cheika

Former Wallabies attack coach Scott Johnson has been appointed director of rugby to oversee current coach Michael Cheika

Johnson was part of the team's set-up in 2006 and 2007 but was let go after the World Cup quarter-final exit of that year.

Since then he's fashioned a career abroad and is currently serving as Scotland's director of rugby.

While Cheika has held on to his job after just four wins in 13 Tests this year, his powers have been curbed.

Johnson will also be part of a new three-person Wallabies selection panel with Cheika and another person to be appointed early next year.
