The Belgium race is notoriously known as one of two Cobbled classics, which often tests riders' endurance.
Bauer says while it's a very certain style of racing, it can be enjoyable.
He says the main problem is the race is very long and if you add narrow cobbled sections and climbs it can break the body down.
Day one starts at 8pm with a 267 kilometre opening stage.
