Laurie Forestry Services Limited has been fined 71-thousand-dollars in the Blenheim District Court after its actions led to significant sediment pollution of Pelorus Sound in the Marlborough Sounds.
The Judge highlighted that poor design, construction and drainage of a skid site used by the company resulted in two slips.
Marlborough District Council's Consents and Compliance Group Manager Gina Ferguson says she hopes the convictions send a message to others in the forestry industry.
