    Scott McLaughlin has gained a greater understanding of what it takes to be the best


    The defending champion has a 142 point lead over compatriot Fabian Coulthard atop the standings, with eight race wins.

    McLaughlin won his maiden title last year and says this time last season he wasn't sure if he was doing enough to triumph, but now knows what's needed.

    He says he's trying to put that into practice again and be more consistent, but knows there's a lot more racing to go.

    The first practice session at the latest event in Winton is currently underway.
