The Compassionate Access Program is a little known scheme that could help many other cancer patients.
It allows patients to apply directly to drug companies for free treatment.
The man has a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and has been given two years to live without treatment.
This week he starts the almost year long treatment for free.
The couple says its shocking people don't know its available and believe there should be a database set up for specialists.
