    A man has drowned after fleeing from Police in Kawerau

    A man has drowned after fleeing from Police in Kawerau

    The 24-year-old was wanted for arrest - and was seen in the Bay of Plenty town about 1.30pm.

    But, he fled on foot towards the Tarawera River and jumped in - but soon after got into difficulty.

    Police performed CPR, but the man died at the scene.

    An investigation into his death is under way.
