New Zealand's been under fire for a lack of foresight with selection and depth, a persistence to keep playing players who were either out of form, or ended up retiring and not enough quality opposition to prepare.
But batting coach Craig McMillan says they made the most of what was presented.
The Black Caps will face either Australia or India in the semi-finals on Tuesday in Manchester, depending on tonight's final two round robin games.
